Observation details

White cap does not extend onto mantle. Wheatear with white cap and belly, black head, breast, and wings. See photos. This is the first ssp. capistrata on eBird which has been IDed to subspecies outside of India. Wouter Plomp and Ellen van Kalmthout had a ssp. capistrata that they IDed to subspecies in Punjab, Pakistan (https://ebird.org/checklist/S80585090), but entered it only under "Variable Wheatear." In 2008, Phillip Edwards recorded a Variable Wheatear that would be ssp. capistrata in Tajikistan (https://ebird.org/checklist/S93450127), but that bird may be a misidentified Pied Wheatear.
