Observation details
When we return back from our regular birding, we saw one bird flushed out and sat on the rock. Immediately, I noticed with my binocular it has finely vermiculated with white, black and rufous buff and with bold white spotting on crown and crest. Mainly, bill looks slightly decurved and shorter than others like herons and bittern family . So we confirmed as a Malayan night heron. But this bird was not fully grown - adult plumage like (Rufous upperparts and black crown and crest). It could be a immature bird (possibly transition to adult) upperparts were barring with white and buff brown, facial patch showing dull blueish (not bright blue like adult) and legs were yellow. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a picture but one of the wildlife photographers in another group who accompany with us could immediately took a record shot. I have attached below the same for your ebird reference . Thanks for Aswath for sharing his picture who has taken the picture.
