Observation details
We saw a small sparrow on the south side of Belts Drive about 100 yards past the pine trees moving along the scrubby short trees, blackberries, and shrubs in the fence line. It was moving toward the pines trees and eventually flew that way. We thought it was a Lincoln sparrow on first glance, but that didnt quite seem right. Got some good looks at it while it was on the ground at the base of the agricultural fence under some shrubby trees. It had minimal streaking on the breast. Just some faint buffy streaks under the wings. Face markings had light colored grayish patch extending above and behind eye and another patch extending from throat up below the eye meeting the other patch. A triangular patch behind the eye was formed by the grayish patches that contained a black line extending from back of eye. No eye ring was present. Throat had white with a black border line on each side. Did not notice the wing color since I was focused on the face. But we did get on good picture which shows the diagnostic rusty wing patches.
