Observation details
First seen perched in shrubby growth in the approximate vicinity of the rocky draw, mobbed by a vocal group of BBMA. Got 2 decent, brief views in flight. At least as large as BBMA, and chunkier. Straight leading edge of the wing; relatively long tail, with a slight curve seen at tip. Seemed to have 1 or more damaged or strongly worn central rectrices. Rusty barring on underside of body. Used shrub cover along the stream corridor extensively; silent throughout. Observed while walking the transect both outbound and returning, with at least 2-3 BBMA mobbing it both times. Got lucky when it perched for ca 30 seconds on a fencepost, and got some photos. Thick legs and large head apparent.
