Observation details
**Very high; carefully estimated by 10's and counted individually when possible. Morning fog presumably pushed these large migrating flocks up Sakonnet Passage as they tried to follow the contours of the coastline. Most veered back southward fairly soon after they realized where they were headed and streamed past and over Sakonnet Point. Largest flight was 700 birds at 10:20. While most flocks were between 20 and 50 birds, there were a fair number of flocks in the range of 100 to 300.
