Observation details
Saw 3 medium (smaller than Eurasian-collared doves) doves in flight together leaving area a few houses (later told by a local resident those homes were on Henry Wolff)-shaped like Mourning doves in flight with small head, slim body, central tail feathers looked pointed. They flew past me and much later I saw 2 fly lower, got a good look at the warm brown colouring and those 2 flew back to the houses. Very shortly after I heard one from the distance with the sound coming from where they first flew off too. I have a recording but trying to edit it seemed to distort it some. It can be heard faintly but seemed farther away. I did not get any photos due to difficulties focusing with my camera after the zoomed out lens got hit by a soccer ball. I saw large numbers of Mourning Doves on the ground, perched and in flight in Southern California this past Dec and these definitely looked like Mourning Doves. I will save the recording and maybe try to edit again when less tired. Note-I thought the two that flew back and the one I heard were likely the same birds I first saw fly off towards the direction they flew back from. Including distant sound recording that I heard after 2 of the Mourning Doves flew by me relatively low. Edited recording and poor quality still.
