Observation details

Continuing. Small marsh bird with black head, neck, breast. Mid section of the body back to the tail was brown with a white side stripe. White under tail. Red bill with yellow tip. Tops of legs bright red, remainder was greenish-yellow. Remarkably long chick-like legs visible as it walked over vegetation. When I arrived it was immediately visible behind the gate just north of the red pump house. I walked down to the edge of ditch where it was feeding and sat waiting for it to come back out. When it did it swam straight at me and wasn't more than 6-8' away. It fed along the edges up to the gate and swam through into the cranberry bog canals. When I came back by I couldn't find it but it was getting dark. Photos.
