Observation details
While scoping out the wet spots on Noon Road, I noticed a smaller, strikingly colored plover mixed in with BBPL; of course a NOHA spooked the flock shortly after I got my scope on it. My initial impression was AGPL due to the seemingly bold white stripe, (albeit not as thick compared to accompanying BBPL); also AGPL tend to be more of a field specialist compared to PGPL, but there's obviously some overlap in habitat. The plover's white stripe extended down to its flanks; a strong indicator for Pacific. First April record on eBird for a golden plover in Whatcom; one spring PGPL report at Semiahmoo Spit on 05/07/2016, no spring AGPL reports.
