Mostly house wren, but the "meow" call of the subject towhee can be heard several times.
Observation details
Near the peak by Burnt Pine Trail junction. Seen well and heard. Green wings and tail. Grey back, flanks, and breast. Rufous crown with black square on forehead extending to bill. White spot at lores. White throat with black malar stripe. Known breeding area per SD county bird atlas. Have iPhone photo, but it's too poor even for ID. Audio is mostly house wren, but the "meow" call of the subject towhee can be heard several times. It is different from other meowing birds (catbird, gnatcatcher, spotted towhee). All three were adults, though one could have been a first year bird. None had the streaking of juveniles, which makes sense, because it's too early.
