Observation details
A very interesting bird. Best guess is American Black Duck x Mallard hybrid. First found preening along the northern shore of the lake, before swimming off with some Mallards as I came closer. It was slightly larger then the nearby Mallards, with a dull yellow beak, a darkish, heavy body, as well as a paler tail and white in front of the undertail coverts, which points to Mallard.
