Media notes
The Gray Flycatcher calls can be heard at 2.5, 6 and just after 10 & 11 seconds. Common Yellowthroat and Killdeer calls in the background throughout and then an Audubon's Yellow-rumped Warbler calls twice near the end.
Observation details
Continuing in the same blackberry patches Nick had it earlier in the day...located to the NE of the seasonal pond at the bend in the road. Rather plain grayish empid with some green tones on the back and more white tones below. It had a relatively long and narrow bill for an empid. The lower mandible was mostly pale with a distinct dark tip. Its eye ring was apparent, but fairly concentric lacking any distinct teardrop often found in the WEFL and HAFL/DUFL complexes. The primary projection was relatively short giving the bird a long tail and for that matter long bodied appearance. It also distinctly dipped its tail downward before bringing it back up into its resting position, which is typical behavior for GRFL. It did not move (pump or flick) its tail upwards from its resting position that HAFL/DUFL do on occasion.
