Observation details
This appears to be the same bird that Shawn Billerman photographed last year. The back, bill, breast, and tail were black, while the sides of the bird were a dark, almost cinnamon-Rufus when compared to the orange-Rufus of a Spotted towhee. The wings were almost all black with the exception of some white on the edge of the primaries. There does appear to be a white edge on the outer tail feathers leading to the white spots on the underside of the tail. This male was perching relatively high in the trees and took off after a female, presumably another EATO as she was noticeably reddish-brown in color.
