Observation details
Known area for this species. After having fleeting, silhouetted glimpses of a thrasher in this area in the morning, I returned after it cooled in the evening in hopes of relocating it and confirming whether it was a Crissal. At about 6:30 I finally spotted the bird in a clump of mesquites and followed it around as it took short flights between patches of trees, occasionally vocalizing at the tops of the branches. A cool-toned, grey-brown thrasher with rusty undertail coverts, contrasty malar, pale yellowish iris, and strongly decurved bill. 800m due west of the landfill.
