Media notes
Olive-sided Flycatcher photographed by Curtis A. Marantz on 19 April 2023 at the Palo Verde Ecological Reserve, Riverside County, California.
Observation details
We saw this bird flycatching from the tops of dead trees along the road bordering the river. This was a relatively small flycatcher with a large head, a plump body, and a relatively short tail. I thought the bill was straight and of medium length for a flycatcher. I was a bit far from this bird to see fine details in the plumage. The overall coloration was a dark olive above and on the flanks, but the throat and the centers of the breast and belly were whitish and sharply demarcated from the dark flanks.
