Observation details
Found by Margaret Viens earlier in the day. Birds flushed before I could get good look (didn't expect them to flush from that distance), but looked like Northern Shovelers flying by. Took photos of them flying away at a distance. Note red belly with white patch toward the back on one picture (2nd duck from left) and distinctive back pattern on two ducks from the other picture, 2nd and 4th duck from right, hour-glass shaped dark pattern surrounded by white, and narrow white stripe on wings.
