Observation details
1. SEEN FIRST TIME EVER 2. 22.48446° N, 88.08349° E, 1730 while about to stop my birding today, I accidentally discovered it on top of the electric pole. 3. It was solitary, was perching at the same spot & checking out the surroundings. 4. I thought it as a pigeon from far, but when I put my eyes in the binoculars I saw some characteristics. 5. I discovered that it has yellow ring around the eyes - thought it might be some kind of Common-Hawk Cuckoo? 6. But the feet was red just like a pigeon! 7. Also the shape & size match perfectly with a pigeon (bigger & 'healthier' than doves), except the plumage is completely grey, unlike a rock pigeon. 8. Looking in Merlin, I found out that "Yellow-eyed Pigeon" is the perfect match with my observation, although 9. ebird says that its not normally seen in this region (although winter migration is possible). 10. Unfortunately by the time I put my iPhone behind the binocular to click photos, the lighting condition was poor, so the yellow ring around the eyes cannot be seen in the picture 😞 11. However, after sometime it flew away northwest & I was busy watching Red-rumped Swallow flock chasing a SHikra. 12. 1745 I was surprised to rediscover that the bird came back & perched at the same spot & didn't leave before I leave the place. 13. So, there's a chance that I can discover it again at similar time here & maybe examine closely but I need a more powerful binocular 🧐 14. Changing it to an unidentified species prompted by the reviewer Mr. Sujan Chatterjee, since I couldn't reproduce better images or other proofs in another occasion, yet.
