Observation details
And then from nowhere, there it was. While I was watching and waiting along the loop about 50 meters downslope from the gate, a single glorious Palila flew in from the west, landed in a treetop, and began quietly singing. After perhaps five minutes, it dropped down into a māmane and began munching on seeds at close range. After an extended feed, it flew downslope a short distance to the north and then flew off 1/4 mile or more to the north, dropping out of sight over the treeline as it went downslope.
