Observation details
Heard only, in burned coniferous forest west of road. Burned in summer of 2015. Am not very familiar with either ATTW or BBWO vocalizations, but I heard a repeated call, apparently from up in a tree, that resembled a DOWO but sounded distinctly different - lower and less sharp. Got a recording. Further research and comparisons of spectrograms of BBWO and ATTW convince me that this was an ATTW. Pitch range and shape of spectrogram, with each call initially rising and then falling, peaking at around 3000 Hz, closely match other recordings of this species; BBWO spectrograms seem to span a broader frequency range and to extend higher in pitch, without showing this rising and falling pattern.
