Observation details
I first noticed a sizeable bicolored alcid on the water that quickly became apparent it was a murre. It was loosely associated with an ATPU. As we approached, the thin black eyeliner marking on the face that divided the white facial pattern became more pronounced. Once we honed in on the bird, one could see a more slender and tapered bill that suggested an adult COMU. When it dove, it gave the typical powered wing dive that also flashed its shorter tail. Very exciting experience for many onboard! (37.051206, -74.856964)
