Observation details
Initially flushed serendipitously where in a brief flight view in torch light, colouration and white wing patches ruled out other candidates. After 20 mins of nervous searching we re-located the bird sitting under a small bush- cue almost complete loss of composure and a verbal tribute to suit a bird of this calibre! Excellent views had before leaving the beast in peace. We had read elsewhere that Golden Nightjar does not have eyeshine- from this experience at least, this is not true. Eyeshine gave away the birds position like in most Caprimulgids. Well done to the birders who discovered these beauties here.
