NOTES: Note recorded on Channel 2 ONLY (Channel 1 contains other recordings). Newly fledged (this morning), newly banded (also this morning) cardinal gives call notes near base of tree with the nest it fledged from, where 2 siblings are still unfledged. I recorded it from 5-6 m away. Uher counter numbers 020-050 (starting at 1 min 26 sec, ending at 3 min 32 sec.), recorded at ~0730 h on 28 July. Rain sounds in background. From 050-084, a second fledgling from the same nest is recorded giving call notes on 29 July at ~0922 h; presumably it fledged after I left at noon on 28 July. It was 8-15 m up in trees, and could fly well; I didn't capture it. It flew farther away at 082. See field notebook and notes inside tape box for more information. Other Behaviors: Establish Parent Young Contact, Beg, Care For Young. Habitat: Forest, Lake, Thicket/Brush, Edge.
