Observation details

Overall pale redpoll with stubby typical Hoary bill. White undertail coverts with one dark streak. Buffy around face and streaked flanks. It appears to be a first year female, hatched in 2022. Heavily feathered upper leg. It was feeding on the seeds of European Black Alder, very acrobatic, often hanging sideways and upside down. Twice it flew to nearby spruce where it ate snow on the branch.
