**MEGA**: Out the window at 6:20AM, seen well, written details to UAM. Placed on the Unsubstantiated List for Alaska. Paul Suchanek, Steve Zimmerman, and Richard Gordon came over and viewed the bird for several minutes. "A Myiarchus flycatcher identified as this species was observed on 20 July 1999 at Auke Bay near Juneau by G. B. van Vliet et al. (NAB 53:422). The photographs (at UAM) are inadequate to substantiate this identification." -- Western Birds 34: 129 Overcast skies, no wind or precipitation, seen intermittently as close as 5 meters with Leitz 10X25 for ~2 hrs. Presumed adult since secondaries were not rufous. Bill black, brownish-capped appearance (which looked slightly darker than the gray face), dark eye, throat pale (very light gray), breast and sides pale (very light gray), belly and flanks with just a slight hint of lemon yellow, two white wing-bars but small and not impressive; rufous on primaries when closed, secondaries and tertiaries dark brown with light edgings, upperside of tail definite rufous but light, the outer rectrix had light rufous on inner web, and dark on outer web. Only called three times: a short, ascending "prrrroot".
