Observation details
The crane had a dark grey body, and the top of the neck and head was white, except for a patch of bare red skin above the eye. It was traveling and viewed with large flocks of thousands of Sandhill Cranes, in the restored wetland and prairie areas of Goose Pond FWA, which is owned and managed by the DNR. There were many articles published about this Hooded Crane, which did not have any leg bands or other evidence that it had escaped captivity.
