Observation details

Between 15:15 and 17:30 at least 5,540 Armenian gulls crossed Jandari Lake in flocks between 10 and more than 1,000 birds, coming from a western direction. More than 95% were adult birds! Only two Caspian gulls could be found in the flocks which we carefully checked. A cross-check on the following day (04 March) showed only a few hundred Armenian gulls left at Tbilisi reservoir from more than 8,000 a few days ago. It seems that we witnessed the main migration from Georgian wintering grounds to the breeding areas.
