Observation details
eBird flagging as unreported and only noting reports from March forward on eBird history, so observation is an early individual. Female, tiny tan duck with a little tail that stuck straight up in the air. Large, black beak, darker cap over a paler cheek with a line through it. Seen in north pond around 08:15 amidst the geese. By far the smallest bird on the pond. Digiscoped photo attached that shows distinctive profile, but quality is terrible due to frozen hands.
