Observation details
@1054 hrs flew from a perch just short of the ponds. A small Buteo hawk. Adult plumaged with that beautiful, completely smooth slate-gray when it flushed showing contrasting yellow legs and feet. Yellow ceres show well off that smooth gray head. As it caught the wind and quickly gained altitude, lighter gray below turning darker only at primary tips. Showing a somewhat long tail with white barring on tail. Seen in good light when flushed. PHOTOS only as it was soaring high away in an overcast background (will have to be best silhouette pic; it was unexpected). It quickly soared over the NW ridge at Ponds. 29.82600 -99.58511
