Observation details
EDIT 9/7/23: CBRC ruled 5-4 against the bird in question as Winter Wren. I believe this bird is the same one seen by others based on visual comparison, ambiguity in spectrogram is what Committee latched on to, and may indicate hybrid. ORIGINAL OBSERVATION NOTES: Great looks, I believe this is the continuing Winter Wren based on comparison to other reports of this long-continuing bird. Would appreciate confirmation. Distinctly pale on throat and more contrast-y overall than typical PAWR. Upperparts warmly colored, bold white supercilium, more barred appearance including higher contrast pale barring on wing and tail edges. Sang out in the open then called later from cover. Song was given in short phrases which makes it harder for me to characterize vs PAWR. It seemed quieter than I am used to from PAWR song which is always very exuberant. Calls were very excited but seemed less crisply metallic than PAWR, I can see the comparisons to Song Sparrow 'chimps' that are often made. Spectrogram is difficult to analyze due to amount of traffic noise but I believe the second band of "strength" around 4k Hz supports WIWR (this shows up more in the back half of the recording). Audio edited in Adobe Audition to remove background noise as much as possible. I am open to correction on this ID as my experience with WIWR is minimal and from its normal range. I believe the documentation makes a decent case and is hopefully not wishful thinking
