Media notes
The bird also sang this song, starting with 2 or 3 Eastern-like elements, then going in to a Western-like song, but higher and thinner than typical for Western.
Observation details
This bird first attracted my attention for its notable songs: (1) a truncated song, consisting of two Eastern-like elements; (2) a fuller song, starting with 2 or 3 Eastern-like elements, then going into a Western-like song, although higher and thinner than typical for Western. It is not atypical for Easterns in contact with Westerns to sing Western-like songs. See photos and audio below. Presumed male based on song, although I'm not aware that female song in meadowlarks has ever been disproved.
