Observation details
Confident on ID. First winter bird among large gull flocks on north end of Carpet Island. Very large gull, at one point landed near the Western x Glaucous-winged and appeared as large or larger. Overall very light mottled tan and white with no difference in coloration of mantle or wings, as well as no sign of any patterning on pale primaries. Bill large and bicolored, pink at base and black at tip. Bright pink legs noted as well. Infrequent, though most readily seen in the county in February when gull diversity peaks.
