Observation details

206 double-crested cormorants were counted from a panoramic video taken of the western shoreline of Barker Island. 223 birds were counted in a panoramic composite of the western tree-line, shown in an attachment below. An additional 41 birds were counted from photographs of the eastern shore-line of the island and about 15 more were estimated swimming in the water. From the video at least 198 nests were counted in the trees on the west-side of Barker Island. There were many more cormorants and nests in the trees on the east-side of the island, probably as many as 50 cormorants and 25 nests. However, these estimates are not included because, due to time constraints, I was unable to get close enough for verification.
