Observation details
Foraging among cobblestones at edge of river. It was constantly pumping its tail up and down. Something looked odd about this pipit -- the underside had a well-defined necklace of streaks, but the flanks had very little fine streaking and the lower breast and belly were completely white. At first, I thought this was a Sprague's Pipit, but once I looked at my photos on the computer at home, I realized it was just an interesting variation of an American Pipit. See attached photos.
