Observation details
***MEGA | third state record pending ME-BRC vote | Found here yesterday morning by Tom Aversa and reported to eBird this morning as SEPL. His photos showed no white above the gape, and appeared overall grayer than an average SEPL so I forwarded it to a few folks then raced down to see if it was still around. It took a few minutes to find because it stayed in a relatively small area, the north end of the beach, and was very approachable. Along with the lack of white above the gape, and grayer colored back, it was easy to see the lack of webbing between the inner and middle toe, and very minimal webbing between the middle and outer toes. The orbital ring was dark, showing no hint of yellow. I tried for awhile to get a record of audio, following it closely with a parabola for over 30 minutes but it never vocalized; between not wanting to risk flushing it, and beginning to lose feeling in my frozen hand, I gave up on that. Appears to be the same individual that was at Kelleys Cove--Sunday Point, Yarmouth, CA-NS from 11-12 Jan 2023 (https://ebird.org/checklist/S125995117)
