Observation details
Updating ID of the previously reported Myiarchus flycatcher. ID of BCFL made based off the audio I recorded in this checklist and the photos Beto got the following day, 2/3. The call has a more fluid "whip" sound as opposed to "pip." Giving single call note repeatedly. Beto's photos show a bit more yellow belly than I would expect on an ATFL, but not bright enough for a GCFL. Duller white wingbars and edges, and rufous color under the tail feathers extends to the tips. This bird has been here since at least 1/31 - I have audio of it from that morning. The bird has been pretty secretive all week, I've heard it multiple days but only seen it once. This is probably also the same Myiarchus that was reported here as a LSFL on 1/27. **If you are chasing, please be respectful of the area, parking rules, and habitat. It is part of the university ecological research area - University PD often patrols this area and has been known to close the trail in the past. Excellent species for the county and a very exciting find for the campus!
