Media notes
COKI calling from about 35 yards away. AMCR and RWBL in background. After viewing the bird a few minutes and recording its call, a COKI playback was used to observe its response. It immediately left its perch and flew in a tree very near to us. More recordings were obtained while the bird was at the closer perch as well more photos.
Observation details
Kingbird with bright yellow belly and breast, grayish-green back, gray head and brownish-black, slightly notched tail. Its bill was longer and stouter than Western Kingbird and it lacked white outer tail feathers like the latter. Separated from similarly plumaged Tropical Kingbird by vocalizations heard and recorded on two different devices. The bird was first observed by Molley McManus-Muldrow March 30, 2017.
