Observation details
Well!! Without a doubt, the non-Wader bird of the day so far has to be this remarkable character; I thought I was seeing things when what looked to be a greyish, burly-but-long necked bird swooped up to the powerlines beside one of the Crows!! I tried to tell myself it was a Figbird as I moved in for the hunt... and... the thick, down curved bill!! The bulging grey-blue skin around the eye!! It was an understatedly handsome Little Friarbird, which eventually hopped down into a small bushel on the other side of the track here, its long, broad tail held slightly cocked, it started disinterestedly preening itself and peering leisurely down at me!! While they're apparently rather more common up in the mangrove walk to the north, it was a testament to the unusual appearance of a Friarbird around here that the Miners came in to peer at it with immense confusion...
