Observation details
I was able to view the BLSC with my scope but the waves were fairly large and they disappeared into the trough for long periods. The raft of scoters were resting and floating, some with heads tucked and probably tired after the gale that carried tropical storm force winds. They floated into a small flock of Scaup that were diving and feeding. It was still rough and raining lightly. Although it was dark, you can make out the distinct profile of the BLSC and the broad gray cheeks of the females.
