Observation details
Trip leader (Larry Schmahl) stopped suddenly having seen the RSHA which is a RARE bird for Salton Sea area. Bird was pale overall compared to RSHAs that I have seen and initially I thought this to be a RTHA. After seeing fat-barred tail and checkered pattern on back it was easy to see this was a Red-shouldered Hawk. Photos uploaded and noticed that bird appears more streaky on breast in flight than perched and also see bird has pale eyes (not red).
