Observation details
Huge flock (!) foraging on samaras of ash, in the Jrecks parking lot. Some among them were adult males. Also, they were unfortunately largely quiet most of the time. I tried recording them (when they did call) but the HVAC unit from Jrecks probably made most of them awful, in addition to the traffic. They actually gave a few harsh agitation calls between each other which I’ve never heard (even in a recording) as well as “jree!” calls as in AMGO. I got a few cellphone pics/vids of most of the flock and 93 was the max number I was able to count. They would often flush, apparently flying over behind Stewart’s- or elsewhere- but returning shortly thereafter in varying numbers. Very cool experience.
