Observation details
This is my second observation of this bird - the first time being at Coventry Lake on Wednesday. 1/18 when It was on the water and somewhat farther away. No report filed then. Bird was in parking lot with ~100 other gulls (10 HEGU and the rest RBGU); associating with these gulls who were eager to get food from people who regularly feed the gulls at this site. Numerous photos obtained. Note the yellow bill tip; greenish-gray toward the base with some dark gray at the intersection where those colors meet. Also, a dark eye with small very white cresents (back 1/2 of orbital ring) high and low on the back side of the eye - very noticeable in photos and with scope views. Legs are yellowish-gray. P9/P10 make a large "mirror" on this bird (see photos). Mantle is slightly darker than RBGU. The gull was not as aggressive toward food as the other gulls and tended to keep its distance and stay on the back edge of the gull group (away from people and activity). This bird left after about 1.25 hours with a large group of gulls and went to nearby Mansfield Hollow on the water where others refound it at that location.
