Media notes
Upper right and lower left individuals appear to be Ross's Geese. My identification of Ross's Geese here today was made based on my Zeiss 85mm spotting scope views, not based on photos.
Observation details
Seen with Zeiss 85mm scope. In with flock of 2,900 Snow Geese. Smaller, rounded head, smaller bill without "grin patch". I found no clear images of them in my photos of them on the ground among the Snow Geese. I'm attaching a photo I took this day that seems to show two Ross's in flight with Snow Geese -- lower left & upper right. My identification was while viewing them on the ground using my scope, not based on photos. I didn't relocate the Ross's Geese in the flock after the Bald Eagle triggered the Snow Goose flock into flight and when approximately two-thirds of the flock flew off to the east. I've found and photographed Ross's Geese in Yakima County several times previously in Winter and Spring.
