Observation details
large rail with long legs at BH3 and BH2, heard calling spontaneously and coninuously. ran across road multiple times, seen in cattails multiple times, watched run across road and then swim across ditch, bird was incredibly active. photos and recordings. Watched and listened to bird for at least 20 minutes, with bird approaching as close as 6 feet. 2nd bird was not seen by me but I'm including it because Lee Sterrenburg showed up shortly after I left and reported that there was a second bird just a short distance down the road. He drove quickly between the two locations, too quickly for the first bird to have moved. It's very possible the two birds were responding to each other, but I couldn't hear the second bird due to the distance and strong winds.
