Observation details
Mixed in with a small group of Canada geese. At first thought this was just a leucistic CAGO. Much more white in the face and the cheeks, some mottled white down the neck. Chest and breast a gradient from dark brown to a warm taupe color, not dark/white contrast like a CAGO. Obviously larger than the CAGO around it, and with a much longer neck, at least a third or half again as long. Yellow-pink legs. Different posture than the CAGO as well. Did not hear it vocalize at all. Sadly, I didn’t have my scope, but I got some passable bino/cell pictures. Initially thought it might be snow x Canada, or domestic x Canada, but after consulting some friends at Cornell, I landed on swan goose x Canada.
