Observation details
Not this exact location. Adults at five known nest sites in this area (4 singles and one pair). No active nests Encountered while performing necessary nest box maintenance (cleaning out and making small repairs when needed). Nest boxes are maintained periodically (about once every 5 years) during the fall/winter season when nests are less likely to be active, in order to reduce disturbance to these state-endangered birds. Nest boxes help barn owls by giving them a safe place to roost and nest. You can help barn owls by donating to the Nongame Wildlife Fund, or by building and installing a nest box in open grassland habitat.
