Observation details
I made a very brief stop to the NWR in the mid-afternoon. Spent only about 30 minutes as that's all the time I had. I walked around the nature trail and didn't see/hear much of interest, but at the Visitor/Nature Center parking lot, while walking back to my car, I heard off in the distance a high pitch "peeet" call and knew it was a tyrannulet. The bird was calling from across the street 26.229591, -97.346288. I was able to pish it out into full view, after which it actually flew into the trees in the nature center parking lot. 26.229496, -97.347015 Odd looking flycatcher. Very agitated behavior, flicking its tail all the time. About the size of a Least Flycatcher. Two wingbars. Eye-ring and eyeline. Overall dull gray-brown. Distinct crest. small bill with curved culmen. Will upload photos and video tonight.
