Media notes
*NOTICE* Disregard the obvious Virginia Rail call given, that was a playback, this record is regarding the vague background ascending call. NOT the foreground. Apologies for the playback included in the recording.
Observation details
Possibly the Virginia Rail. I sat in sight of the whole pond for a good 20 minutes. Then decided to use a playback for a few seconds to see if it was even still around, then a bird seemed to respond sitting here (38.07061° N, 84.39303° W). I’m not well versed in the birds that could make the semi-rapid creak call that I heard. However, I couldn’t find anything like it in the Merlin recordings. I never saw a rail or anything that I would think to make the noise. Please disregard the louder obvious Virginia Rail Playback, this record is regarding the quieter, background call. If you click ahead to the 5 Second mark, you can hear it start.
