Observation details
Five mixed with group by 78. One possible EWPE, but unable to rule out a EUST imitation. Heard this one yesterday but chalked it up to just another talented NOMO. At the start of the list today though, I heard it again singing an unmistakeable, clear, slow: “pea-ee-uh-wee” then “pea-ee-yur” a few seconds later, near the pond (where this species bred this summer). Heard this pattern again repeated twice in a row ten minutes later and managed to get a recording of part (TBA). A NOMO’s immitation wouldn’t have these long pauses in it’s song like EWPE show and would have quickly been followed by another phrase from another bird’s song. EUST can do a perfect imitation, unable to rule it out
