Observation details

MEGA. Found yesterday at Shoveler Pool by Gary and Helen Smith and still present this morning. Small, dainty tern; fed constantly in rapid, darting flight, picking food from the surface but never plunge-dived and was never seen on the ground. Distinguished from BLTE by solid black head and body with white belly, rump and tail; wings mostly silvery white above; underwing coverts solid black. Photos TBA.
