Observation details
Seen preening and bathing by the channel. At least 2 birds seen at once. One had a slight black tip to the bill. Initially posted as a Little Tern on the 'Central Coast Birds' Facebook page, then I noticed it and went to see it today. Sternula with all yellow bill, light grey plumage, white lores, black was squared off past the eye, light primaries etc. Bill seemed thicker than surrounding Little Terns and also more saturated. More white on forehead than Little Tern. Legs appeared shorter. One called a few times and sounded softer than the surrounding Little Terns
