Observation details
A fast, loud, long, distinctive series of low frequency downslurs, falling (and rising at times) in pitch and slowing in tempo from a large parrot with a red head. Two different pairs noted, first heard only, second heard and seen 1h5m later. Spectrographic analysis of second pair calling shows downslurred series of one bird starting out fast at ~3.4 notes/s "peer-peer-peer-peer..." at 3.1 kHz then gradually dropping in pitch to ~2.7 kHz and slowing into a couplet, at ~2.9 notes/s "pee-ur pee-ur pee-ur pee-ur…" Second bird emits just a few downslurs at lower rate (~2.5/s) and at constant higher pitch (~3.2 kHz). Calls from first heard-only pair similar. Siimilar to recordings from Batanta (https://xeno-canto.org/530320).
